Choose Your Hard

March 4, 2010

I read a quote on somebody’s Sparkpage (part of my favorite diet support site – sparkpeople.com – here’s my page) the other day that’s really stuck with me:

“Being fit is hard. Being fat is hard. Choose your hard.”

This is so true. There are so many times that we get SO SICK of watching our food and exercise, often with slow-to-come rewards. But it’s important to remember that the other option was hard too.  I am not happy if I’m binging. I am not happy if I’m out of shape. I am not happy if I’m busting out of my pants.

This quote found me at a particularly good time, as I’ve been frustrated with the turtle scale lately.  I’ve lost 3 pounds since 1/1/10, and I need to see that as an achievement rather than a frustration. If I continue to lose 1.5 pounds / month, I’ll be in a much healthier place by 2011. The time will pass anyway. It will be hard anyway. I choose the healthy hard.
